Oinktoberfest to help charitable causes

A joint effort between First Media Radio, Carolina Eagle Distributing, Halifax County Tourism and White Motors will bring Oinktoberfest to the American Legion in October.

A traffic stop this morning resulted in the arrest of a Murfreesboro man who had outstanding warrants based on an investigation by the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office.

Sanitary district reports wastewater spill

The Roanoke Rapids Sanitary District had a wastewater spill Wednesday of an estimated 1,200 gallons from the wastewater collection system located at the intersection of Laurel Avenue and West Fourth Street.

RRPD roundup: Heroin trafficking; child assault

The Roanoke Rapids Police Department reported the following, according to Chief Chuck Hasty:

Roanoke Rapids Police Department narcotics investigators this afternoon executed a search warrant on Church Street as a result of an ongoing investigation.

An investigation this morning which resulted in the arrest of a man on marijuana counts also led investigators to seize evidence tied to a break-in and larceny from a retail business.

The Roanoke Rapids Public Library celebrated the end of its annual Summer Learning Program with an awards ceremony this afternoon.

The Roanoke Rapids Police Department reported the following, according to Chief Chuck Hasty:

Roanoke Rapids firefighters donned lime green T-shirts today to show support for a shift leader who has been diagnosed with a rare form of lymphoma.
