Drug bust leads to recovery of items in retail BE&L

An investigation this morning which resulted in the arrest of a man on marijuana counts also led investigators to seize evidence tied to a break-in and larceny from a retail business.

Captain Bobby Martin of the Roanoke Rapids Police said the case is tied to one Investigator O.B. Wiltsie has been investigating in the 2400 block of West Tenth Street. He said the case remains under investigation.

The narcotics division of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office lodged the drug counts against 22-year-old Kevin Macias of Roanoke Rapids, Agent D.R. Radford said in a statement.

The execution of the search warrant in the case was done by the sheriff’s office and Roanoke Rapids Police Department investigators.

Beyond the items seized in Wiltsie’s investigation, Investigators located and seized 77 grams of marijuana, a digital scale and sandwich bags.

Radford charged Macias with possession with intent to sell/deliver marijuana, felony possession of marijuana, maintain a vehicle/dwelling/ place for a controlled substance, and possession of marijuana paraphernalia.

Macias was released on an $8,000 bond and has an August 18 court date pending.
