On Saturday around 3:30 a.m., Officer Patrick Smith responded to the Motel 6 parking lot for a motor vehicle collision.
Smith spoke with Lieutenant Roy Rooks of the Halifax County Sheriff's Office who was working off-duty. Rooks informed him the collision reportedly involved Kari L. Ezzell, 24, of Roanoke Rapids.
Smith's investigation reportedly determined that Ezzell was impaired
He charged her with driving while impaired, possession of schedule II, possession of schedule VI and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Ezzell was released and given a court date of February 13.

On Sunday around noon, Master Officer Mark Peck responded to the Dollar Tree for a larceny call.
Peck learned Wanda W. McDaniel, 52, of Lawrenceville, had allegedly taken items from the business. During the investigation the items were recovered inside a vehicle.
McDaniel was arrested and charged with larceny and possessing stolen goods. She was given an $8,000 secured bond and a court date of February 6.
A passenger in the vehicle was also arrested on outstanding warrants. William Tecsumpsah Hamlin, 66, of Weldon, was served an outstanding warrant for larceny, possessing stolen goods and trespassing. He was given a $3,200 bond and a court date of January 16.
Lieutenant Charles Vaught and Officer Jonathan Benthall assisted.
Also on Sunday, Lieutenant Jeff Baggett responded to Walgreens for a larceny call.
He met the suspect vehicle on Tenth Street.
The driver reportedly refused to stop until the intersection of Becker Drive and Old Farm Road.
Baggett arrested Ashley A. Elrod, 25, of Gaston, for flee to elude arrest, larceny, and conspiracy.
Elrod was given a $1,000 bond and a court date of February 13.
Rose Marie Johnson, 30, of Roanoke Rapids, a passenger in the vehicle, was charged with larceny, shoplifting, conspiracy, carrying a concealed weapon and trespassing.
Johnson was given a $750 bond and a court date of February 13.
