A 16-year-old Woodland boy faces child sex counts following an investigation by the Northampton County Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff Jack Smith said in a statement that Keontre Maurice Peebles, who was arrested today following investigation by Captain Chuck Hasty, was charged with two counts of indecent liberties with a child and sexual battery.

The investigation began last September when the mother of one of the victims reported the matter to the sheriff's office.

Hasty learned there were further victims in the case, and used the Tedi Bear Child Advocacy Center in Greenville to assist in the investigation.

Further information was not immediately available.

Peebles was jailed on $32,000 bond and has an April 10 court date.
