Mr. Liles was born in Halifax County, NC, the son of the late John Robin Liles, Jr. and Ruby Tharrington Liles. 

He was a U. S, Army veteran serving with the Military Police and as a combat medic, with the 15 Army Field Hospital. 

He retired from International Paper in 2002, with 37 years of service. 

He was preceded in death by his wife Frances Collier Liles, a sister, Vickie Lancaster and two brothers, John Robin Liles, III and Charles H. Liles.

Mr. Liles is survived by: two daughters, Sharon L. Smith and her husband Kenneth L. of Roanoke Rapids, NC and Laurie Anne Liles of Halifax, NC; two step sons, Thomas Rainey and Michael Rainey, both of Roanoke Rapids, NC; a sister, Sue Duke and her husband Randolph, of Littleton,. NC; two brothers Harold D. Liles of Littleton, NC, and Eddie Liles and his wife Kathy Jean of Roanoke Rapids, NC; five grandchildren, Brandon Mabrey, Christopher Smith, Jamie Butler Meghan Liles and Drew Carlisle; four great grandchildren, Kayla Mabrey, Bryce Mabrey, Hayden Liles and Drake Carlisle.

The family will receive at Wrenn Clarke & Hagan Funeral and Cremation Service, Monday, January 22, 2018, from 7:00 to 8:30 PM.

Funeral services will be held at Tabor United Methodist Church, 10651 Highway 48, Littleton, NC, on Tuesday, January 23, 2018, at 2:00 PM, with Rev. Sid Collins officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donation be made to Tabor United Methodist Church.
