Jason Lee DeBerry died unexpectedly on December 21, 2017. 

He was born June 20, 1975 in Roanoke Rapids. 

He graduated from Northwest High School. 

At age eighteen he joined the Army. 

Sergeant DeBerry  then served in the National Guard where he served proudly in Iraq and Afghanistan from 2003 -2005. 

After his medical separation he worked for Terminix and Orkin. 

In Texas, he worked for Exxon Corporation as a security guard.

He deeply loved his dogs, Missy Bell and Stinky. 

He was a voracious reader who enjoyed history and graphic novels. He enjoyed online gaming and had many online buddies. 

He was interested in Star Wars and Star Trek; moreover, he enjoyed working with his hands and on vehicles. 

His hobbies included fixing and building computers. 

Jason loved his family more than anything else. 

He had a kind and generous spirit. He will be truly missed by all who loved him.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Grady L. and Nancy B. DeBerry; maternal grandparents Dr. George T. and  Rosemarie S. Gardner.

Jason is survived by his father, Glenn Edward DeBerry; mother, Diane G. Stansbury and stepfather, Jack D. Stansbury; two sons, Jason Matthew DeBerry, Jacob Lee DeBerry; brother, Jonathan DeBerry; sisters, Jackie  and Joyce Stansbury and the missing Shonda Stansbury; ex-wives, Amy Whitener and Angel Avoles; niece and nephew, Riley Chase and Colton DeBerry.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, December 28, 2017, in the Chapel of Wrenn, Clarke, & Hagan Funeral Home with Roby McLaughlin officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery.

Family and friends will be received Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at the Funeral Home from 7:00 until 8:30
