Mrs. King was born March 18, 1926 in Halifax County to the late Robert Crawley and Susan Andrews Crawley. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Nathaniel “Jack” King; her grandson, Jason Thomas King; her sister’s, Jesse C. Warren and Ruby C. Morgan; her brother, Henry Ferguson Crawley.
She was a charter member of Good Samaritan Baptist Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be missed by all. She taught her family how to love, pray and do right by the Lord. All her children know she is in heaven with her husband.
Mrs. King is survived by her children, Susan King Barnes (Frank), Arthur Thomas “Tommy” King (Ann) and Mary Elizabeth King; her grandchildren, Richard E. Newton (Stephanie), Sharon H. Nowell (Russell), Haywood E. Hollowell, II (Jill), Steven W. Hollowell (Amy), Cathy Duhadaway (Brian), Anna Jean King (Travis), Ken Barnes (Melissa) and Amy Barnes Rose (Sandy); many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A special thanks to the staff of Magnolia Gardens in Warrenton, for loving her like family and she loved them like family.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday, March 31, 2017 in the chapel of Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service with Dr. Dennis W. Gregory, Sr. and Rev. Richard Newton officiating. Burial will follow in Crestview Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30 – 8:30 P.M. Thursday, March 30, 2017 and other times at the home of her daughter Susan Barnes.
