The RRHS Varsity Baseball team traveled to Northern Nash on Tuesday afternoon and came away with a 14-2 victory.
Josh Elias picked up the win on the mound. He pitched 3 innings, giving up 2 runs on 5 hits while striking out 4 batters. Tyler Shearin pitched the last 2 innings, giving up no runs on 3 hits, while striking out 1 batter.
The Yellow Jacket offense exploded for 16 hits on the day. Colby Warren and Hunter Connell led the way on offense. Warren had the big blows with 3 total hits including two 3 run home runs and 7 RBI. Connell scored 4 runs on 4 singles while collecting 2 RBI. Other leading hitters were Marcus Allen (2 hits), Aaron Jackson (2 hits, 2 RBI), Tyler Liverman (2 hits, 1 RBI), Cameron Rogerson (3 runs, 1 hit), Jordan Collins (1 hit, 1 RBI), and Josh Elias (1 hit, 1 RBI).
Coach Mark Snead stated, "We rebounded in a big way from our loss to Rocky Mount last night. We had a great approach at the plate today and it paid off. I am proud of how the guys responded. Colby had a great day hitting. And Hunter really sparked our offense. Josh and Tyler pitched well and kept Northern Nash from getting anything going offensively. Now we have to put in some hard work at practice to get ready for our conference opener at Warren County on Friday."
The next game for the Yellow Jackets will be at Warren County on Friday. It will be a JV/Varsity Doubleheader. The JV game will start at 4 pm with the Varsity game to follow.
