Multiple arrests were reported following a fight at Northampton County High School in Gaston.

Northampton County Sheriff Jack Smith said between 10 to 12 were arrested.
There were injuries reported, but Smith said he couldn’t immediately confirm the number or whether the injuries were sustained from the fight or whether students were transported for treatment from panic attacks as one parent coming to check on their child said.
Smith said he could not immediately determine how many people were involved in the fight, which was reported around 1:30 this afternoon.
The motive was not immediately clear. The school was taken off lockdown around 2:45.

A sheriff’s office transport van was also used to carry students for booking. Students in the transport van could be heard talking loudly while some people standing outside the housing authority apartments near the school shouted back at them.
Roanoke Rapids and Gaston police responded, along with the state Highway Patrol and Halifax County Sheriff’s Office.
