Pack the Bus, an initiative by Halifax County Schools, delivered more than $10,000 worth of clothing and supplies to Edgecombe County Schools, one of the areas hit hard by Hurricane Matthew.

Enfield and William R. Davie middle schools served as drop-off points for the effort, the school system said.
Superintendent Eric Cunningham called the Thursday drive an outpouring of care and support from the Halifax community. “The Pack the Bus for Edgecombe County Schools was a huge success,” he said. "Hurricane Matthew may have left our neighbors hurting, but the Halifax community stepped up with comfort. The more than $10,000 worth of supplies and clothing is a living example of how we carry our lessons past the classrooms. I was more than overwhelmed when I saw the generous outpouring from the students, families and community members. Way to go Team Halifax.”
Cunningham said the school system is committed to providing appropriate educational programs that will allow all students to achieve at a high level of success. “The expectation is that every student is a unique individual who can and will learn when provided with adequate time, effective teaching, and a positive learning environment.”
