RRPD blotter: September 2-8, 2016

The Roanoke Rapids Police Department reported the following, according to Chief Chuck Hasty:

Friday September 2, 2016
At approximately 1 a.m., officers Ryan Cross and Joey Spragins responded to a domestic disturbance in the 1200 block of Georgia Avenue.
They found Kathleen Joan McGuire, 50, and Eris James Barber, 48, both of Roanoke Rapids, with injuries.
McGuire was charged with assault and Barber was charged with assault on a female.
They were held without opportunity for bond and have September 23 court dates.
Master Officer Gerald Morris assisted.

At approximately 5 am., Officer Natara Velazquez responded to a call about a larceny of a motor vehicle in the 900 block of Henry Street.
Velazquez developed Ricky Nelson, 57, of Roanoke Rapids, as the alleged suspect and obtained warrants.
At approximately 1 p.m., Master Officer Adam Salmon located Nelson and the vehicle in the 900 block of Henry Street and arrested him without trouble.
Nelson received a $2,500 bond and September 21 court date.

At approximately 3:45 p.m., Lieutenant Jeff Baggett conducted a traffic stop on Old Farm Road near River’s Edge Parkway after discovering an occupant had outstanding warrants.
Baggett arrested Christopher Ryan Turner, 30, of Roanoke Rapids, on outstanding warrants for larceny out of Franklin County. The case was investigated by the Louisburg Police Department. Turner received a $1,000 bond and October 11 court date.

Sunday September 4, 2016
At approximately 4 a.m., Master Officer Roy Ball conducted a traffic stop on Cleveland Street near Bolling Road for investigation.
Ball spoke with Bradley Aaron Bender, 25, of Roanoke Rapids, and a search was conducted in which drug paraphernalia was found inside.
Ball cited Bender, who was released until his October 7 court date, for possession of drug paraphernalia.

At approximately 7:45 a.m., Officer Jeffrey Mason responded to a breaking and entering call in the 100 block of Creek Drive.
Mason learned there was an argument between the victim and Zabriel Maurice Johnson, 23, of Roanoke Rapids.
Johnson was asked to leave the residence but returned, kicked in the back door and left.
Johnson returned but fled when Mason returned.
Baggett located Johnson on Andrews Street and took him into custody without trouble.
He was charged with breaking and entering and damage to property.
He received a $1,000 bond and September 30 court date.
Sergeant Mike Moseley and Officer Alex Green assisted.

At approximately 3:30 p.m, Mason responded to a larceny call at Walmart.
Loss prevention reported reported Tahaun Lavelle Jenkins, 17, of Roanoke Rapids, took items.
Mason cited Jenkins for larceny and possession of stolen goods.
He was released until his September 30 court date.

At approximately 8:30 p.m., Officer Hannah Grimes responded to Halifax Regional on an assault call.
Grimes arrested and charged Tashia H. Jacobs, 43, of Garysburg, who received a $300 bond and September 23 court date, with assault of medical personnel.
Lieutenant Perry Parks, Sergeant Daniel Jenkins and officers Greg Colson and Scott Blythe assisted.

Monday September 5, 2016
At approximately 10:30 a.m., Cross responded to a disturbance call at Park Avenue near Manning Elementary.
Cross encountered Arkies Ty-Kill Sommerville, 19, of Roanoke Rapids, who had numerous outstanding warrants.
Cross took Sommerville into custody without trouble to to face charges of breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering, possession of stolen goods, communicating threats and disorderly conduct.
The breaking and entering charges stem from a case investigated by Lieutenant Charles Vaught on April 11 when the victim reported their business was broken into and items were taken.
Jonathan Pilgrim was arrested on August 24 by the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office for his involvement.
Sommerville received a $12,000 bond and October 19 court date.
Lieutenant Charles Burnette and Sergeant Mark Peck assisted.

At approximately 2:30 p.m., Officer Patrick Smith responded to a larceny call at Walmart.
Loss prevention reported Erek Levelle Brown, 32, of Roanoke Rapids, concealed items.
Smith cited Brown, who was released until his October 10 court date, for shoplifting concealment of goods.

At approximately 3:30 p.m., Velazquez, responded to a larceny call at Walmart.
Loss prevention reported Holly Lynn Borges, 27, of Roanoke Rapids, took items.
Velazquez cited Borges for larceny and possession of stolen goods.
She was released until her October 21 court date.

At approximately 4:45 p.m., Smith responded to a larceny call at Walmart.
When Smith arrived, loss prevention pointed out the vehicle in question.
The driver refused to stop until reaching the area Chockoyotte Park.
Terrell Jefferson, 35 of Littleton, was taken into custody without trouble.
Jefferson was arrested and charged with habitual larceny, flee to elude arrest with motor vehicle, trespassing, and served three outstanding orders for arrest.
He received a $90,500 bond and October 19 court date.
Peck, Morris and Cross assisted.


Tuesday September 6, 2016
At approximately 1:30 p.m., Morris responded to a larceny call at Walmart.
Loss prevention told Halifax Central the alleged suspects took items and were leaving on a vehicle.
Morris located the vehicle leaving the parking lot and conducted a traffic stop, detaining the occupants pending investigation.
Morris arrested Jessie Allen King, 32, William Lewis Moncure, 25, both of Roanoke Rapids, and William Gilbert Roundtree, 31, of Littleton, for larceny and possession of stolen goods.
During a search narcotics and paraphernalia were found in the possession of King and Moncure.
King was charged with possession of schedule I and drug paraphernalia. Moncure was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
King received a $2,000 bond and Moncure and Roundtree $1,000 bonds.
They have October 21 court dates.
Investigator Frankie Griffin, Smith and Velazquez assisted.

At approximately 10 p.m., Baggett responded to a loud music complaint in the 1000 block of Burton Street
When Baggett arrived he found a vehicle and spoke with Corey Torrell Newell, 36, of Roanoke Rapids about the music.
During the investigation Newell was found in possession of narcotics and paraphernalia.
Baggett cited Newell for possession of schedule VI and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Newell was released until his October 21 court date.

Wednesday September 7, 2016
At approximately 1:30 p.m., Smith responded to a larceny call at Walmart.
Loss prevention told Halifax Central the alleged suspect took items and was leaving on a vehicle.
Smith located the vehicle and detained Tavaris Donshea McAllister, 29, of Fayetteville pending investigation of the larceny.
Smith arrested and charged McAllister with larceny and possession of stolen goods.
He received a $30,000 bond and October 19 court date.
Hasty and Morris assisted.

Thursday September 8, 2016
At approximately 1:45 a.m., Green was on routine patrol when he noticed a vehicle traveling on Roanoke Avenue with one headlight.
Green attempted to conduct a traffic stop but the driver refused to stop until reaching Hamilton and Tenth Street when other units arrived to assist.
Officers took the driver, Jerome Maurice Broady, 32, of Pleasant Hill, into custody without trouble.
During the chase Broady threw narcotics from the vehicle and narcotics were found inside the vehicle after the arrest.
Green arrested and charged Broady with flee to elude arrest with a motor vehicle, possession of schedule VI, possession of schedule II, possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, improper equipment, no operator’s license, and also served him with a warrant from Northampton County for assault inflicting serious bodily injury.
Broady received a $15,000 bond and September 21 court date.
Baggett,Moseley, Salmon and Mason assisted.

At approximately 7:15 a.m., Cross responded to a trespasser call at McDonald’s on Roanoke Avenue.
Management told Cross Tom Lee Price, 43, of Roanoke Rapids, was asked to leave to property several times but refused to do so.
Cross arrested and charged Price, who received a $500 bond and September 23 court date, with trespassing.
Spragins assisted.
