The North Carolina Governor’s Highway Safety Program has officially named the Weldon Police Department as a 100 percent reporting agency for 2015.

"I would like to recognize the GHSP county coordinator (Lieutenant Chris Davis) and officers who participated in the program during 2015,” Chief Mark Macon said “The Weldon Police Department officers participated in various traffic campaigns throughout the year.”
Macon said the GHSP helps save lives and gives local agencies an opportunity to receive grant funded police equipment. “This is a valuable program and I am very proud of the work that my agency, as well as others are doing."
The reports collected throughout the year play a major role in how much federal funding the state receives from the National Highway Safety Administration.
This directly determines how much funding is allocated throughout the state for highway safety projects.
“None of this would be possible without the coordination of Lieutenant Davis and all officers for their timely submissions of reports,” Macon said.
