“I am running for state Senate because the people of Senate District 4 deserve a senator who will unite our communities and who will represent the interests of all the people,” he said in the statement. “My top priorities will be bringing private sector jobs and economic development to Northeastern North Carolina, strengthening our schools and rewarding our teachers, and protecting our agricultural industry.”

As a teacher who works as a GED Core Competency instructor through Halifax Community College, as chairman of the Halifax County Council on Aging, and as chairman of the Northeastern Nurses Family Partnership Collaborative, Scott said he has a unique understanding of the challenges facing Senate District 4 and is already working to bring the communities and the people of Vance, Warren, Halifax, Nash, and Wilson counties together to find solutions and tackle those challenges.

“Our region of North Carolina is struggling with the challenges of high unemployment, high levels of poverty, and low levels of education,” he said. “It’s time for new leadership that will focus on uniting our communities and all residents to overcome these challenges. It’s time to stop playing the blame game and time to work together to find solutions. I will work together with all people regardless of age, gender, race, or political affiliation to do what is best for my home, Northeastern North Carolina.”

Scott and his wife, Liz, reside in Scotland Neck.

They have three children, six grandchildren, and one great grandchild.

Scott has 30 years of private sector business experience including 15 years as a supervisor and trainer with Tyson Foods, which honored him with their Tyson Hero of the Year for Community Service Award.
