Roanoke Rapids City Councilman Carl Ferebee was selected to another term as mayor pro tempore this evening.

The mayor pro tempore fills in when the mayor is absent from meetings and functions. Ferebee will serve in this capacity for two years.

Ferebee ran unopposed in the November municipal election.

Councilman Ernest Bobbitt cast the motion to re-elect Ferebee as mayor tempore and Councilwoman Carol Cowen cast the second.

“Thank you for selecting me for another term and for having confidence in me to do this,” Ferebee said.

Ferebee as well as Cowen and Bobbitt were also sworn in this evening to retake their seats following last month's election.

Cowen was the only council member who faced opposition.

Senior Resident Superior Court Judge Alma Hinton administered the oaths of office.

Mayor Emery Doughtie told the three, "We appreciate you for agreeing to serve the community. We appreciate it very much."
