An early morning shooting in Hollister today has left one person with an apparent life-threatening injury, Halifax County Sheriff Wes Tripp said this morning.

There were multiple victims found at the scene off Lynch and Hedgepeth roads in what the sheriff said appears to be a gang-related crime.

The shooting occurred just after 1:30 and Halifax County Central Communications advised several people were shot.

Beyond saying one person had what was believed to be a life-threatening injury and pending charges reflecting the injuries, Tripp would not immediately disclose how many people were shot.

In a matter that has not yet been determined to be linked to the Lynch and Hedgepeth road shooting, Tripp said in a statement Deputy Steven Stansberry, who was in the area of Medoc Texaco and was heading to investigate Lynch and Hedgepeth road area, heard shots fired and a car speed off.

Stansberry attempted to stop the vehicle. Captain A.M Harris deployed stop sticks on Medoc Mountain Road at Lee Road.

Both driver side tires were hit. Stansberry and Harris arrested Evan Davis, 24, and Joshua Richardson, 28, both of the Hollister community.

Davis was charged with two counts of injury to personal property, going armed to terror of people, and flee to elude.

Richardson was charged with injury to property and going armed to terror of people.

Both were released on $1,000 secured bonds and have October 21 court dates.

The sheriff said it has not yet been determined whether Davis and Richardson were involved in the Lynch and Hedgepeth road and investigation continues.

The property damaged was the window of an unoccupied vehicle shot out at the store and the damage to the stop sticks.
