Roanoke Rapids police are investigating the theft of a 600-pound safe stolen from an East Tenth Street business in June.

Investigator Frankie Griffin said the theft occurred following a break-in at Davis Insurance on June 24.

Nothing else was disturbed in the break-in. The 1950s-era safe, which contained cash, was the only item removed.

Investigation showed drag lines of 40 feet from when the safe was removed.

“Someone knows where the safe is,” Griffin said. “One person can't remove a 600-pound safe by themselves.”

Anyone with information is encouraged to call Griffin at the police department at 252-533-2810 or Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444.

All information will remain confidential.
