Four Roanoke Rapids residents, one described as an alleged mid-level player in the local heroin trade, were arrested today following a high-speed chase that ended at the Canal Walk subdivision off Old Farm Road.

A Saturday evening foot chase led to a man being served 10 outstanding orders for arrest, according to the Halifax County Sheriff's Office.

Five teens charged in vehicle B&Es

Five Roanoke Rapids teenagers, one who was pulled from the Roanoke Rapids High School prom Saturday night, have been arrested for a string of break-ins targeting mainly unlocked vehicles.

The Roanoke Rapids Youth Baseball Association kicked off this Saturday at Ledgerwood park with a preseason tournament in the Minor  league division.

Roanoke Valley Elite finish second

The Roanoke Rapids based women's travel softball team Roanoke Valley Elite played in a tournament this weekend in Raleigh at Worth Dale Softball Complex and Walnut Creek.

Ledgerwood improvements dedicated

The new playground equipment at Ledgerwood Field is all based on movement, Roanoke Rapids Parks and Recreation Director John Simeon said today before a brief ceremony that dedicated the renovations and opened up Family Fun Day.
