Chaloner Niddle School baseball's first two game recap from Friday's Halifax Academy Easter Tournament.

 

Game #1 Friday April 24th

Rocky Mount Academy at Chaloner

The Chaloner Jackets was handed its first lost of the year in the first round of the Halifax Academy Easter Tournament by Rocky Mount Academy 15 to 5. Chaloner had control problems by walking 12 batters and 4 batters were hit by the pitchers. Rocky Mount also had 10 hits. The leading hitter for the Jackets was Cameron Salmon with 2 doubles and 2 RBI’s. Cameron Medlin had 1 hit and 2 RBI’s. Aaron Jackson, Ethan Gaskins, and Brandon Collier each had one hit.

 

Game #2 Fridat April 24th

Chaloner at Northeastern Prep (Tarboro)

Northeastern Prep 0-0-0-0-1-0-2-1 Final 4

 

The Chaloner Jackets defeated Northeastern Prep 6 to 4 in extra innings to stay alive in the Halifax Academy Easter Tournament. Aaron Jackson and Cameron Salmon hit long doubles in the 8th inning to spark Chaloner to victory. Aaron Jackson had 2 doubles for the game. Peyton Jackson also had 2 singles. Jake Van Dam, Ethan Gaskins, and Carson Neal each had a single. Ethan Gaskins was the winning pitcher by pitching 7 innings (giving up 9 hits and only 1 earned run). He struck out 4 batters and walked only 3. Aaron Jackson got the save with a strong performance in the last inning. This was Jackson’s first pitching appearance of the year. Both pitchers got strong support from a good Chaloner defensive effort.
