Smith and Ewers headed to NCAA division II Regional's

University of Mount Olive Trojans win second straight conference Carolina softball title with two Roanoke Rapids players and clinch spot in the NCAA II Regional tournament.

Senior Kalie Smith and Freshman Caitlin Ewers played a role in Sunday's clinching game. Mount Olive #4 seed beat #2 seed King University 11-3 in the championship game of the 2014 Conference Carolina's Softball Tournament in Burlington NC.



Ewers as a DH hitter earned 1 RBI, while Smith earned a double at bat. Smith playing third base ended the game with a line drive catch and a fired throw to the first base for the game-ending and tournament clinching double play.



Regional bids will be announced May 5, which gets underway May 9th.
