Garner's Walk-off Seals the Deal in the Roanoke Rapids Lady Yellow Jackets Victory Over Whiteville Varsity Wolfpack.

A walk-off single led Roanoke Rapids past Whiteville Varsity Wolfpack 7-6 on Thursday Night at home in the second round of the 2A NCHSAA State softball playoffs.  The game was tied at six with Roanoke Rapids batting in the bottom of the seventh when Lauren Garner singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.

There was plenty of action on the basepaths as Roanoke Rapids collected nine hits and Whiteville Varsity Wolfpack had ten.

Roanoke Rapids got on the board in the second inning. 

Roanoke Rapids tallied four runs in the sixth inning. Roanoke Rapids Lady Yellow Jackets's offense in the inning came from a single by Kaysie Summerlin, a groundout by Meredith Wilson, and a double by Karlee Hammack.

Kalissa Williams was the winning pitcher for Roanoke Rapids. The fireballer allowed ten hits and six runs over seven innings, striking out three and walking zero.

Roanoke Rapids hit one home run on the day. Williams went for the long ball in the third inning.

Roanoke Rapids  tallied nine hits. Summerlin and Alana Mitchell each racked up multiple hits for Roanoke Rapids. Mitchell and Summerlin each collected two hits to lead Roanoke Rapids.

Whiteville Varsity Wolfpack tallied ten hits in the game.
