The Roanoke Rapids High School Yellow Jackets Cross Country teams hosted the Northern Carolina Conference Championship Meet on Wednesday October 17.
 
Paced by top 15 finishes from Catherine MacNichol, Caitlin Bobbitt, Alexia Coley, and Brittany Milan, the RRHS Women's team took home first place at the meet and won the season long conference championship.  
 
Paced by top 15 finishes from Jacob Bouchard, Harry Crawford, Daniel Acree, and Riley Mills, the RRHS Men's team finsihed in second place in the meet and second place overall in the season long championship.
 
The following team members received all-conference honors for  their season long performance and their finish in the conference championship meet:  Catherine MacNichol, Caitlin Bobbitt, Brittany Milan, Alexia Coley, Jacob Bouchard, Harry Crawford, and Daniel Acree.  Coach Mark Snead was voted as the Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year for the conference.
 
Coach Mark Snead stated, "I am really proud of the way our teams have performed this year.  For the Women's team to win the conference title and for the Men's team to finish second says a lot about their dedication to our school and this sport.  This group of young men and women have worked hard and consistently dropped time all year long.  They are just such a great group of young adults to be around."
 
Also Jackets Head coach Mark Snead was named Northern Carolina Conference Cross Country coach of the year for 2018.
 
The RRHS Cross Country teams are now preparing for the NCHSAA 2A East Regional meet to be held at Croatan High School on Saturday October 27.
