Saturday, October 20th Roanoke Rapids High School Coach Steve Milligan attended Catawba College's 30 year reunion for the 1988 Football Conference Champs.

Coach Milligan was on staff at Catawba College at this time and was responsible for recruiting players from Eastern NC and coaching the Defensive Secondary. He worked under Hall of Fame Head Coach Bill Mauldin Coach Mauldin had hired Coach Milligan a year earlier, when he was on the staff at East Carolina University.

The 1988 Catawba College team won the then NAIA Conference Championship. To honor the teams achievements from that year they had a 30 year reunion this weekend and more than 50 players and coaches from that team were in attendance.

Some of these former student athletes are now NFL coaches, college coaches, high school coaches. Some are high school Principals, Athletic Directors, and Educators. Men from this team also became Bankers and Mayors of their home towns. Some are business owners- one former player now owns multiple waffle houses. Former Linebacker from the 1988 team- Curtis Walker is now the head Football Coach at Catawba College. This is his sixth season as the Head Coach.

Coach Steve Milligan stated, "this is a special group of men who worked together, played together and have accomplished a lot in life and their love for each other still shows after 30 years."
