Cornerstone Christian School had some exciting visitors recently.

The Cat in the Hat and Thing 1 and Thing 2 came by for a special visit to celebrate Dr. Seuss’s birthday.

Their special appearance marks a yearly celebration for Cornerstone.

The teachers read favorite books by the author like One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish and made unique desserts such as Green Eggs and Ham cookies.

The elementary classes had a wonderful time interacting with the characters while learning that reading can be fun.

In fact, Mrs. Best’s kindergarten class started reading books just before Christmas, and Mrs. Bryant’s Pre-K class is starting to read short words. The teachers are hoping to develop an early love for reading that will lead to academic success.

Cornerstone’s athletic success was demonstrated on the court last month when the boys’ team finished second in tournament and the Lady Patriots won first place in the CAANC Tournament and Championship.

This is the girls’ fourth consecutive year winning the championship title, and congratulations go out to all the players and coaches for a fantastic year!

The school is now looking forward to new baseball and softball fields of their own behind the school.

Fencing has been put up and the fields are being readied for a great season.

Some of the parents and Lady Patriots softball team came out to help prepare the field for their first game and to demonstrate eagerness to get the season started!

If you would like to sponsor a sign on their softball fence, you may call the school at 252-535-3007.

It’s also open season for enrollment at Cornerstone Christian School.
