Marian Perkinson Hedgepeth, 92, of Roanoke Rapids, NC passed away peacefully on January 10, 2019, in her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was one of 10 children born to Howard G. and Martha Perkinson.

She and her husband, Wadis, have been married for  73 years.

Marian was a graduate of Roanoke Rapids High School and Raleigh School of Cosmetology. She worked as a hairdresser in the Roanoke Rapids community for 60 years and was a member of East 10th Street Church of Christ.

The family appreciates the devotion of her faithful caregivers who helped her in her declining health: Barbara Hewlin, Ella Alston, Bea Alston, Gail Endicott, Sheryl Dickens, Brandi Dickens, Nettie Lou Parks, and Lou Ann Warren.

Marian is survived by one son, Mike and wife Beverly of Roanoke Rapids. She is also survived by one granddaughter, Sally Lou Newman (Dale) of Boydton, VA, a step-granddaughter, Crystal Morris (Brandon) of Jacksonville, NC, and a step-grandson, Josh Clary (Ashley) of Wake Forest, NC. She is also survived by two great-granddaughters, Raney and Dylan Newman and three step-great-grandchildren, Ethan Morris, and Mackenzie and Reagan Clary.

Marian was predeceased by her parents, six brothers, and four sisters.

A graveside service will take place at II:00 am on January 12, 2019, at Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids, NC, with Rev. Randy Martin officiating. The family will receive following the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her memory to East 10th St. Church of Christ, 1207 East Tenth Street, Roanoke Rapids, NC 27870.
