She married Floyd Hampton Knight on January 6th, 1980.

She was a dedicated wife, a tremendous mother to her only child, Joshua Bradford Knight, and a loving grandmother.

Tracy was a talented writer of short stories and poetry, garnering awards in several state competitions. She enjoyed an active lifestyle and was dedicated to daily exercise.

She especially enjoyed biking through coastal towns like Manteo and Southport.

The beach was her calling, and she found peace in the sands of Coquina Beach and Ocracoke Island.

But perhaps her greatest passion was the care of homeless animals. Whether through organizations or on her own, she participated in the rescue of countless stray cats.

She was compassionate, thoughtful, resilient, and ever humble, and she treasured her family and friends.

Tracy was preceded in death by her parents, William Freeman Gibson and Merle Harper Gibson, and her brother Marc Stephen Gibson, all of Roanoke Rapids, NC.

She is survived by her brother, Gary Freeman Gibson, of Roanoke Rapids, NC; her husband of 41 years, Floyd Hampton Knight, of Raleigh, NC; and son Joshua Bradford Knight, daughter-in-law Sophia Kathleen Knight, and granddaughters Daphne Karen Knight and Penelope Frances Knight, all of Sewickley, PA.

Visitation will be held Sunday, October 3rd, from 2 - 4pm at Wrenn Clarke & Hagan Funeral Home in Roanoke Rapids, NC.

Graveside service will be held Monday, October 4th, at 12pm at Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids, NC.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in her name to the Goathouse Refuge, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, no-kill animal sanctuary dedicated to providing cage-free care for cats of every age and medical condition. To donate go to www.goathouserefuge.org or call 919-542-6815.
