Mr. Joshua Bernard (J. B.) Rose, 94, of Roanoke Rapids, passed away peacefully January 10, 2021 at a Wilson, NC healthcare facility.
He was born Oct. 28, 1926, in Northampton County, the son of the late Belle Hudson Rose and Joshua Cleveland Rose.
He was also preceded in death by his wife Martha Davis Rose, brothers Reynold and Donald, and half-sisters Nettie V. Moore and Gustava Davis.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Bruce Manning of Roanoke Rapids; his sister Corene Harris of Pendleton; his brother Joseph Rose of Pendleton; sisters-in-law, Louise Rose of Selma, AL, Yvonne Davis of Chester, VA, Iola Gay (Kenneth) of Franklin, VA, Gwen Davis of Tavares, FL; brother-in-law Dr. Alton Little of Bowling Green, KY; his granddaughter Melissa Moseley of Roanoke Rapids; great-grandchildren Jackson, Olivia and Amelia Wright of Roanoke Rapids; and a number of beloved nieces and nephews.
He was the owner of Southern Crown Pest Control for 45 years and earned a reputation for quality work and treating his customers fairly. He enjoyed helping others and mentored many young men who worked for him over the years.
Arrangements are being handled by Wrenn, Clarke & Hagan Funeral Home in Roanoke Rapids with a Graveside service Wednesday, January 13 at 2 p.m. at Cedarwood Cemetery, officiated by Pastor Russ Collins. Due to coronavirus, attendees are requested to wear masks and practice social distancing.
