James Dennis Nowell passed away May 27, 2019, at his home.

He was born November 18, 1942, in Halifax County.

He was a graduate of Weldon High School. He worked most of his life in the textile industry.

He was predeceased by his parents James Phillip and Bessie Joyner Nowell, a brother Steve Nowell, a sister-in-law Joan Mayo Nowell, and a niece Bridgette Dye.

Left to cherish his memory are his compassionate, caring, and loving companion of 16 years Carolyn Jordan, his daughter Carolyn N. Outland of Lasker, NC, his son James Dennis “Jimmie” Nowell Jr. of Jackson, NC, granddaughter Allyson Michelle Cornwell and husband Ashley of Jackson, NC, grandsons Brandon Cashwell and wife Lauren of Greenville, NC, Dennis Lee Nowell of Jackson, NC, and great granddaughter Hayden Michelle Cornwell, a sister, Judy Glisan of Cary, NC, a brother Donald Nowell of Whitakers, NC, a sister-in-law Priscilla “Dink” Nowell of Chester, VA, and several nieces.

A Graveside Memorial Service will be held Friday, May 31, 2019 at Old Cedarwood Cemetery at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Andy Sloan officiating.

The family will receive friends Thursday, May 30, 2019 from 7:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. at Wrenn Clarke and Hagan Funeral and Cremation Service.
