Muriel Jeanette “Duck” Sledge, 90, passed away on Wednesday, August 27, 2025. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, Chester Alexander Goodfellow and Mary Elwin Goodfellow and brother, Kenneth Goodfellow.

Duck is survived by her daughters, Lynn Conner (Mike) and Lou McEver (Rich), grandchildren, Carson McEver, Quentin Conner, Jordan Conner, Camren Durette (Jacob) and Matt McEver, great grandchildren, Hayden Carr, Layton Carr, Oaklyn Conner and Wrenly Durette, sister, Margaret Johnson “Toots”, niece, Andrea Johnson and sister in law, Wanda Goodfellow. 

Duck enjoyed quilting, sewing and reading. She was a Sunday school teacher and member of the Roanoke Baptist Church and a fan of the North Carolina Tar Heels. Duck was a cheerleader and basketball player for the Roanoke Rapids High School Yellowjackets. Duck was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. 

A visitation will be held on September 20, 2025 starting at 11:00am at Roanoke Baptist Church, a celebration of life will immediately follow starting at 11:30am with Reverend Randy Martin officiating.
