Frederick Murray “Freddie” Hill, 73, was called home by our Heavenly Father on September 12, 2022.

Fred was born June 11,1949 in Roanoke Rapids, NC, the son of Frank and Elizabeth Hill. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Robin Hill Carpenter; and brothers Mark and Stevie.

Fred was an active member of Pleasant Grove Methodist Church, member and past Master of Seaboard Masonic Lodge #378, and a member and past President of the Seaboard Lions Club. He served in the Army National Guard. He retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard as a Supervisor of Shipbuilding Conversion and Repair. One of his favorite pastimes in retirement was driving the cotton module truck and spending time with his coworkers and farmers he met along the way.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Viola; son Jeff (Barbara); grandchildren Hannah Lay (Tyler), Brooke Carpenter, and Madison Hill; sisters Betty Lou Zusin and Mary Jo Edwards (Mark); and several beloved nieces and nephews.

A service will be held on Sunday, September 18, 2022 at 1:30 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Methodist Church, 2484 Jackson Bypass Rd, with Pastor Robert Hill presiding. Friends may visit with family following the service.
