Joan Marie Keatts Register 84, of Roanoke Rapids, passed away Friday, March 22, 2024, at the Landings in Littleton, NC.

Joan was born on February 22, 1940, in Charlottesville, VA. to the late Woodrow Wilson Keatts and Catherine Lee Thomasson Keatts.  

She is preceded in death by her husband Jim of 63 years, her sister Shirley Keatts and her stepfather Elbert Williams.

Joan is survived by her son James A. Register, III (Maria) of Hickory, NC; her daughter Christine Watson (Mike) of Rocky Mount, NC; her grandchildren Jennifer Sanderson (Trey), Kelly Johnson, Leslie Johnson, Jimmy Register, and Rachel Register; her great grandchildren Ava Sanderson and Isaiah Sanderson; her brother Michael Williams; her sister Beatrice Lawson (Lewis); her sisters-in-law Shirley Bisselle, Beth Elflett, and Ethel Potter; and Joan and Jim’s beloved dog Belle.

The family expresses special thanks and appreciation to the staff of Gentiva Hospice and to the staff of The Landings in Littleton, NC.

A memorial service for Joan and her husband Jim, who passed away twelve days prior to her, will be held at 2:00PM Saturday, April 13, 2024, at Hockaday Chapel with the Rev. Danny Jones officiating.  The visitation will be from 12:30PM – 1:45PM prior to the service.
