Mitzi Dawn Cahoon, 68, of Roanoke Rapids, NC passed away peacefully at her residence on Saturday December 9, 2023.  

Mrs. Cahoon was born on July 13, 1955, in Halifax County, the daughter of the late William Franklin and Betty Rook Pittman. 

She was preceded in death by her brother Steven Ray Pittman.

She is survived by her husband Leon W. Cahoon Sr, daughters Mandy Moore Perkinson (Michael) and Kimberly Dawn Johnson (Richard Dean), grandchildren Chelsea Grizzard, Ryan Grizzard II, Madison Grizzard, Victoria Autumn Majors (Bradley), Hunter Joseph Johnson, and great grandchildren Ethan Garica, Cameron Grizzard, Priscilla Crowder, Aspyn Kate Majors and Harper Grace Majors.

She was a dedicated and caring Registered Nurse that retired from Halifax Memorial Hospital (ECU-North).

She attended Liberty Pentecostal Holiness Church and Faith Tabernacle Pentecostal Holiness Church where she served as song leader, youth leader and Sunday school teacher.

A visitation will be held at Hockaday Funeral and Cremation on Tuesday December 12, 2023, from 7pm to 9pm.

Funeral service will be held at Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Chapel Wednesday December 13, 2023, at 1pm. Pastor Tony Smith will conduct the service. Interment will be at Cedarwood Cemetery following the service.
