It is with deep sorrow that we inform you of the passing of Mrs Yvonne Merritt Hathaway. Yvonne, 83yo, passed peacefully January 10, 2023. 

Yvonne was born October 26, 1939 in Roanoke Rapids, NC to Fletcher and Louise Merritt.

Yvonne is survived by her younger brother Samuel Merritt, sons James, Jr and Kenneth McClung & daughters Amber McClung and Deborah Tanner.

Yvonne is preceded in death by her husband Charles Hathaway, her sisters Barbara Pepper, Sonja Floyd and her brother Butch Merritt, as well as her parents Fletcher and Louise Merritt.

Yvonne enjoyed a long, fulfilling, life as a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, nanny and on many special occasions, a foster parent. 

Yvonne had a passion for helping others and always looked to achieve more. 

Yvonne was an entrepreneur, and enjoyed ownership of her own cleaning business. She enjoyed getting together with friends and family. She loved the laughter and joy generated during these events. 

Yvonne has made an indelible difference for many people throughout her life. Indeed, when finding someone in need of compassion or assistance, she was immediately and wholeheartedly engaged. 

She believed in standing up for her rights, your rights and always maintained her very personal independence. Yvonne is now with God!

A Graveside celebration event will take place in Cedarwood cemetery this Saturday, January 21, 2023 at 2pm.
