Durley “Dean” Medlin Collier, 80, passed away December 18, 2022, at her home with family by her side.
Dean was born October 19, 1942, in Halifax County to the late Grady Medlin, Sr. and Virginia Helen Wright. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Marshal Collier and her sister, Patricia Davenport.
Dean is survived by her sister Sandra Heuay (Rob), brother Grady Medlin (Sallie), and brother-in law Charles Ray Collier; her daughters, Cheryl Hedgepeth (Jerry), Jenger Adams (Zach), Marsha Collier (Michael Hearp); her son, Marshal “Mark” Collier, Jr. (Karen); her grandchildren, Brook McCabe (Chantel), Kelly Massey (Brian), Samantha Hearp (Zach Horvath), Sierra Jordan (Alex), Brandon Collier, Kaylee Collier, and Ashton Adams; her great-grandchildren, Brooke McCabe, Brayden McCabe, Collin Massey, Clayton Massey, Corban Massey, Eleanor “Elle” Jordan, and Avery Horvath; and many nieces and nephews.
Dean was a faithful wife and devoted mom and grandmother who loved to spend time with loved ones and enjoyed travel. Dean enjoyed fishing, art, drawing, music, dancing, and the beach. She also enjoyed seeing her classmates from RRHS every 2nd Tuesday of the month. Dean worked for many years at Atlas fish market until working alongside her husband at Collier Harley-Davidson before retiring on Lake Gaston. Dean leaves a legacy of devotion and service to many friends and family.
Dean will be missed greatly by many.
The family will receive friends Friday, December 30, 2022, from 6:00- 8:00 P.M. at Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service. A private service will be held at a later date.
