Kathleen Allen Allen, 92, died Friday evening in her Roanoke Rapids home, following a period of declining health.

Kathleen was born in Northampton County on October 18, 1930, the daughter of John Henry Allen and Eusebia Leah Jordan Allen.

Her parents; her husband, Harvey Eugene Allen; and 4 siblings preceded her in death.

She was a long time and devoted member of Harvest Temple Pentecostal Church; she also enjoyed making afghan blankets.

Kathleen and Harvey were married on January 22, 1949 in Emporia, VA by the Rev. Sol Wrenn.  In May, 1954 they opened and operated Community Drive In on Hwy. 158, where they remained as friends and mom and pop to many of the youth in the area.

In 1968, they had enough of hot dogs and hamburgers, so they left the restaurant business and opened A & A Mobile Home Sales for the next 10 years when they once again semi-retired and began to enjoy the slow lane ever since.

Kathleen is survived by her daughter, Kathy Dail Allen; grandchildren, Rusty Miles (Shannon), Darrell Miles (Paula), Gene Miles (Sandra), Robbie Miles (Heather); great-grandchildren, Breanna (Kenneth), Brooke (Matt), Eryne (Josh), Savannah (Chris), Hayley (Kub), Makaila, Brett, Hayden, Chloee, Anistyn, Andrew, Kaylnn, Tate, Madlyn, Axl, Jordan; half-sisters, Judy Askew, Ann Patton; and special friend, Jonnie Miles.

Friends may visit with the family from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm Tuesday at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday at Harvest Temple Pentecostal Holiness Church, with Pastors Tim Bowen and Jeremy Kobernat presiding.  Interment will follow in the Allen-Love Cemetery.

The family has asked that anyone attending the service for Kathleen, whom she made and gifted an afghan blanket for, to please bring their afghan and drape over the pew you sit in.
