David Lynn Carter, 51, of Roanoke Rapids, passed away on Saturday, June 11, 2022.

David Lynn was born on Nov. 16, 1970, son to Samuel David Carter and Edith Jones Carter. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Sherman Jones; and paternal grandparents, Jimmie Carter and Annie Mae Carter.

David Lynn was a jack of all trades and there wasn’t much he couldn’t fix. He learned to weld when he was a young teen and became known as one of the best in the business. If he wasn’t traveling the country following shut downs, he could often be found by the river fishing.

He is survived by his sons, Corey Carter and Hunter Carter, both of Virginia Beach, Virginia; his granny, Jackie Jones of Roanoke Rapids; sisters, Darlene Kea (Stephen) of Clover, South Carolina, and Jessica Dilley (Sean) of Ridgeley, West Virginia; nieces, Alexis Dilley, Jocelyn Darrah and Abbey Kea; and nephews, Tyler Kea, Colton Dilley, Jacob Darrah and Colby Kea. He also had numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

We find solace knowing David Lynn accepted our Lord and Savior.

The family will hold a memorial service at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 26 at Maranatha Baptist Church.

The online guest register may be signed at hockadayfs.com

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions be made in memory of David Lynn to Maranatha Baptist Church, 595 Zoo Road N., Roanoke Rapids, NC 27870.

Arrangements are under the care of Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service.
