Mrs. Lillian Hasty Briggs, 86, of Jackson, died April 30, 2020 at UNCRex Healthcare in Raleigh.

A native of Northampton County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Morris Ashley Hasty and Blannie Mae Hasty. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her aunt, Ina Love Hasty.   Lillian left her mark on the county as the Librarian for Northampton Memorial Library for 33 years.  

As an active member of the community, she attended Jackson United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir and was one of the first ladies to become a member in the Jackson Lion’s Club.  

Some of her favorite activities included growing orchids, modeling beautiful outfits in The Quality Shop on Fridays, and educating herself about the legal system under Judge Judy.  

Most of all she loved her family and her family loved her.

She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Robert Jones Briggs, two daughters and a step-daughter, Lori Pearce Jones and husband Michael of Raleigh, Donna Pearce Gordon and husband Murray of Jackson, and Wanda Briggs-Trevino and husband Ray of Conway; four grandchildren, Haley Gordon, Ian Gordon, Nick Trevino, and Nathan Trevino; 6 granddogs, 6 grandcats; one sister, Bonnie Hasty Mabry Milone and husband Michael of Gaston; Bonnie’s son, Eric Scott Mabry, wife Shannon, and daughter, Sarah of Ayden, NC; and many other treasured nieces and nephews and very close friends.

Friends may visit with the family on Friday, May 6, 2022 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service in Roanoke Rapids.

The funeral service for Mrs. Briggs will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, May 7, 2022 at Jackson United Methodist Church, 206 Thomas Bragg Dr, Jackson, NC.  Pastors Paul Lee and John Taylor will preside.  

Entombment will follow at a later date.
