Mr. Troy Long Keeter, 81, of Roanoke Rapids died Tuesday afternoon, April 26, 2022 at Vidant North Hospital.

He was born in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina on August 24, 1940.  

He had a love for classic cars and being with his family.  

Troy worked for a service station and JP Stevens while building his home in Roanoke Rapids.  He was known to be a master carpenter and would also work on cars.  

Troy worked for Key Construction building bridges for 22 years before retiring in 2016.

Troy was preceded in death by his father, Carl Troy Keeter; mother, Lona Margaret Aycock; sister, Carolyn Carlisle; his son, Coleman Keeter; and his special friend, Elizabeth Wright.

Troy is survived by his sister, Loujean Keeter; daughter, Lisa “Buffy” Keeter; nieces, Cheryl Poarch and Tammy (Craig Shaw); and great-nieces, Caroline (Thomas Owen) and Harley (Kelly Barnes).  

The funeral service for Mr. Keeter will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, April 29, 2022, from the graveside at Quankie Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Stan Lewis presiding. 

The family will greet friends following the service; and, friends may also visit with the family on Thursday evening at the residence of his niece, Tammy Shaw.
