Heaven gained a very “Special Angel” on April 3, 2022.

Our beautiful, precious Wife, Mother, NANA Peggy Coons Haskins went to be with our Heavenly Father.

We know she was met by her parents and brothers and sisters and many other beloved family and friends.

Our Mother/NANA was 86 years old; May 16th she would have been 87.

She was born in Hamilton, Alabama and moved to Roanoke Rapids in her teens after a tragic vehicle accident that almost killed her and claimed the life of her twin sister and mother.

She was raised here in NC by Rev. Daniel S. Hux and his wife, Mae, who was her mother’s sister.

Our mother/NANA married our dad on January 9, 1953 and have been married for 69 years. She was a wonderful and strong woman with a fierce faith in God.

Peggy attended school in Hamilton, Alabama from 1st – 7th grade then moved to NC and graduated from Aurelian Springs High School in Littleton, NC.

She was a lifetime member of the Red Cross Gallon Club.

She loved to cook for the family on Sundays and Holidays, a wonderful southern lunch.

Peggy also loved dearly her special pet Pomeranian “Sunshine.”

Mother/NANA is survived by her husband, Oliver E. “Gene” Haskins; had three daughters, Yvonne Doughtie and her husband Emery, Lisa Oliver and her husband Robert T. Oliver, Jr. and Teresa Hux; six grandchildren, Lauren Doughtie, Sara Long and her husband Ramah, Alyson Cooke, Ashlee Hux and her husband Danny and Taylor Hux Joyner and her husband Noah, Tommy Oliver and his wife Miranda; eight great grandchildren, Harper Long, Bradley Long, Rylen Barbrey, Kieran Barbrey, Penelope Holcomb, Ramona Brabham, Daphne Brabham and Aela Joyner and was the Best Mother/NANA anyone could have! We love you “Mother/NANA” – It’s not goodbye – we will see you “When We All Get to Heaven!”
