Frankie Odell Strickland, 71, of Roanoke Rapids, died Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.

Frankie was born December 16, 1950, in Halifax County, NC, the son of Johnnie Strickland, Sr. and Gladys Kittrell Strickland.

Frankie graduated from Roanoke Rapids High School and went straight into the House Painting business with his father.  Frankie painted houses and businesses all over eastern North Carolina and Southside Virginia for nearly 50 years.  Frankie liked fishing, shooting pool with friends and vacationing at Virginia Beach, but most of all, Frankie Loved his family.

Survivors include his high school sweetheart and wife of more the 50 years, Doris Harris Strickland, Son, Anthony "Tony" Strickland (Wendy), his angel and granddaughter, Halyn Jean Strickland and her mom, Brooke Lynn Teel and his brother, Randolph "Randy" Strickland (Joann) and numerous nieces and nephews.

Frankie was preceded in death by his parents Johnnie Strickland, Sr. and Gladys Kittrell Strickland, Son Jamie Douglas Strickland, Sisters Betty Jean Holland, Carolyn Twisdale and Yvonne Elias, Brothers Johnnie Strickland, Jr., Douglas Strickland, Larry Wayne Strickland and James Madison "Doodlebug" Strickland.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 - 2:30 pm on Sunday, March 27, 2022, at Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service in Roanoke Rapids.  The funeral service will immediately follow at 3:00 p.m., Sunday March 27, 2022, in the Funeral Home Chapel with Jason Yeatts officiating, with interment to follow in Crestview Cemetery.
