Virginia Capps Shearin, 92, of Roanoke Rapids passed away Saturday, March 19, 2022, at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, NC.

Virginia was born November 27, 1929, in Vance County to the late Charlie Edward Capps and Rosa Mae Belch Capps. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Grady I. Shearin; her sons, Gary Wayne Shearin and Michael Keith Shearin; her grandson, Daniel Ryan Sheedy Shearin; her brothers, Jesse Edward Capps and wife Gladys, John Walston (Buck) Capps and wife Ruth, Howard Capps; her sisters, Lillian Clary and her husband Junie, Joann Edwards and her husband Alga Lee; her brothers-in-law, James Perkins, Bill Brewer, Carl (Teenie) Colbert. 

Virginia loved the visits with her sons, grandchildren and great grandchildren and their friends. She always loved to visit with family in Virginia.  

She will be most remembered from A&P and Farm Fresh but worked at several other grocery stores before officially retiring. 

Virginia is survived by her sons, Howard Dean Shearin and his wife Teresa and Vernon Lee Shearin both of Roanoke Rapids and his girlfriend Tracy Potter; her grandchildren, Bradley Dean Shearin and his wife Holly of Winterville, NC, Gary Ryley-Dean Shearin of Roanoke Rapids, Brittany Leigh Shearin of Chicago, IL, and Kaitlin Michelle Shearin of Raleigh, NC.; her great-grandchildren, Lucas Dean Shearin and Gracelyn Faith Shearin; her brothers, Charlie (Crack) Joseph Capps and Franklin (Big Boy) D. Capps; her sisters, Thelma Brewer, Velma (Sis) Mae Perkins and Doris Colbert.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M.  Saturday, March 26, 2022, in the chapel of Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service with Rev. Randy Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 – 1:30 P.M. prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the home.
