Kenneth “Ken” Ray Gupton, 61, of Roanoke Rapids, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 11, 2021, at home surrounded by his beloved wife, son and family.

Ken was born November 16, 1960, in Roanoke Rapids to the late John Ray Gupton and Alice Virginia Gupton. He was also preceded in death by his father-in-law Billy Gilliam, and his grandparents Raymond and Julia Mae Gupton and Johnny and Alice Barnes.

He is survived by his wife and high school sweetheart, of 38 years, Lisa Ann Gupton; a son, Tyler Vick Gupton; mother-in-law, Carolyn Gilliam; a sister, Robin Gupton Clay and husband Frankie; a brother, Ricky Gupton and wife Sherrie; a brother-in-law, Lee Gilliam and wife Debbie; nieces, Jessica Clements and husband Luke, Samantha Griffin and husband Brett, Leann Gilliam and fiance Thomas; nephews, John Michael Gupton, Derrick Clay and wife Crystal; and many special friends.

Ken was a devoted husband, a loving father, brother, and uncle. He was an active member of the Roanoke Rapids First Pentecostal Holiness Church. Ken was employed by Dominion Power for 40 years, where he was a member of the volunteer team. He enjoyed helping people in the community in need. Ken enjoyed hunting, fishing, diving with Tyler and the many adventures at their beach home. He also spent many hours coaching football and the shooting team, he served as an excellent mentor for the youth.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Maradiaga, the nurses and doctors of UNC Oncology and the kind and caring staff of Community Home Care and Hospice.

A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, December 16, 2021, at the Roanoke Rapids First Pentecostal Holiness Church with Pastor Matthew Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, December 15, 2021, from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the Roanoke Rapids First Pentecostal Holiness Church and other times at the home.
