She was an avid Disney fan and liked to visit often, especially if she had the opportunity to take her grandkids.

She spent her early life as a homemaker and worked various jobs through the years.

She has now completed her goal of meeting Jesus Christ face to face.

She was born January 20, 1943, to the late J. Donald Lawson and Elizabeth “Betty” Davis Lawson.

She was also predeceased by her husband, Melvin Everett Powell, Sr. and a son, Melvin Everett Powell, Jr.

She is survived by her children: Saundra Hill and husband Mike of Missouri, Renee Powell of Tennessee; her brothers, Joe Lawson and wife, Nancy, of Florida; John Lawson of California, and Christopher Lawson and wife, Tammy, of Rocky Mount; her grandchildren, Kimberly Brower and husband Mike, Joey Hill and wife Liz, and great-grandchildren, Jared, Noelle, Vera & Autumn Brower; Elias and Malachi Hill.

She is also blessed to have an abundance of extended family of brother-in laws, sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and “honorary” next door great-grandchildren.
