John Aster Radford, 67, of Roanoke Rapids, died Sunday, September 26 in Vidant North Hospital.

John was born in Nash County on August 4, 1954, to Charlie Radford, Sr and Myrtle Lee Smith Radford.  His parents, as well as siblings James, Raymond, Thomas, Gene and Dorothy Radford, all preceded him in death.

John was a retired employee from the City of Roanoke Rapids. 

He was a great husband and father and he loved his grandchildren. 

John enjoyed being outside, and liked to hunt and fish.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Hargrave Radford; sons, Danny Radford and wife Carol Anne of Roanoke Rapids, John Radford and wife Karie of Roxboro; grandchildren, Brianna, Bryson, Juliette, Kasey, Kassidy and Gregory; brothers, Jerry, Leroy and wife Carol, Charlie, Jr.; sisters, Juanita Dickens, Annette Tanner, Alice Mooney; as well as nieces and nephews. 

Friends may visit with the family from 6:30 pm until 8:00 pm on Wednesday at Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service.  At other times, the family will be at the residence of Danny and Carol Anne, on Pine Drive in Roanoke Rapids.

In keeping with John’s request, he will be cremated and no other public service will be held.
