Ben Keeter, Jr., 94, of Roanoke Rapids passed away Monday, May 10, 2021 at his home surrounded by his beloved family.

Ben was born April 21, 1927 in Jones County to the late Henry Benjamin Keeter and Pearl Ivey Keeter. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Patty Johnson; his brothers, Lockhart, James and Leslie Keeter; his half-sisters, Lucille Coggins and Mary Turner; his half-brother, Preston Keeter.

Ben worked as a Textile Maintenance Repairman at Roanoke #2 J.P. Stevens for forty-five years. He enjoyed country music, gardening and small engine repairs.

Ben is survived by his wife of seventy-three years, Delois Keeter of the home; his children, Linda Jean McKinney and her husband Johnny Wayne McKinney, Sr. of Battleboro, Roger Lee Keeter and his wife Libby of Littleton, Helen P. Schenck and her husband George of Myrtle Beach, SC and Rebecca K. Pittman of Roanoke Rapids; his half-brother, Herman Keeter of Salisbury; his half-sister, Pearl Strickland of Littleton; his grandchildren, Roger Lee (Robbie) Keeter, II and his wife Christie, Justin H. Pittman and his wife Jessica, Brandon Odom and his wife Jennifer, Darla Velino and Amanda J. Hedgepeth and her husband Donnie; his step-grandchildren, Joshua McKinney and John Wayne McKinney, Jr.; his great grandchildren, Destiny and Desiree Velino, Dylan Drye, Amber Keeter and fiancé Curtis Batchelor, Chad and Benjamin Keeter, Brook. Steven and Nathan Pittman, Gracey, Bella and Sophia Hedgepeth; his great-great grandchildren, Brenden Keeter, Dalton Batchelor and Joshua Keeter and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, May 13, 2021 in the chapel of Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service with Bishop Murphy Myrick, Jr. officiating. Preceding the funeral service, a viewing will be held from 12:30 – 1:30 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery in Weldon, NC.
