Marjorie Hoggard Byrum, 89, died October 12, 2020 at Vidant North Hospital.

Born August 3, 1931 in Bertie County, she was a daughter of Parker and Lyndle Hoggard, both of whom preceded her in death.

She was also predeceased by her husband, Walter Byrum; and siblings, Ernest, Earl and Pete Hoggard, Peggy Hall; and nephews, Ray Jones and Ronnie Odom.

For the past 10 years, she was unable to do many things she loved – reading, cooking, tending her rose bushes and working in the house.

Although her passing is sad, any tears shed should be tears of joy and not sadness.

This is said for 3 very simple yet very important reasons —  Before her transition to rest, she could not see for many years — now she can see.

For even more years, breathing was a struggle.  Now, she can breathe easy.

For the past 3 years walking was difficult, with the last year no walking at all.

Now, she can walk or run with ease.

So please, let any tears shed for her be tears of joy, that now she can do all the things she missed doing for so many tears.

A memorial service for Mrs. Byrum will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, October 17, 2020 at Lighthouse of Hope (formerly Woodland First Full Gospel Church), Highway 35, Woodland, NC.

Pastor Brian Jenkins will preside.  Friends may visit with the family following the service.
