He was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Margaret Birdsong Riddle, six weeks earlier.  The family has chosen to honor both Margaret and Dixon with a shared obituary and memorial service.

Dixon was born January 3, 1925 in Garysburg, NC to John and Ina Riddle.

Margaret was born December 13, 1924 in Halifax, NC to Lee and Ada Mae Birdsong.

Margaret and Dixon married September 7, 1947 and made their home in Weldon, NC.

Following service in the U.S. Army, Dixon worked for the Coca-Cola bottling company until his retirement. Dixon was a master-craftsman, with an incredible woodworking talent. He built and refinished furniture for both his family and customers, some that traveled from many miles away. He finally closed up his shop in 2018 at the young age of 93.

Margaret was employed with Dr. Blowe in Weldon until her retirement. She loved to garden, was an incredible cook, and had a wicked sense of humor that entertained her grandchildren greatly.

Margaret and Dixon are survived by their children, Patricia Riddle Taylor and husband Steven; Norwood Dixon “Dickie” Riddle, Jr. and wife Cindy; four grandchildren, Andy Taylor (Becky), Quincy Taylor Caspar (Jason), Marc Riddle and Kyle Riddle (Katlyn); and 3 great-grandchildren, Anna Taylor, Jack Caspar and Caroline Caspar.

Margaret is also survived by brother, Russell Birdsong (Danya), and Dixon is survived by two sisters, Barbara Furr (Curt) and Peggy Swanger.

The family has planned a graveside memorial for both Dixon and Margaret on October 24th at 11:00am at Halifax Methodist Cemetery.

Arrangements for Mr. and Mrs. Riddle are under the care of Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service.
