James Howard Jenkins, 70, died Friday, May 18, 2012 at his residence on Dickens Ave.
James was born in Halifax County October 30, 1941 to the late John Henry Jenkins and Nellie Mabrey Jenkins. He was a supervisor and salesman for Coca-Cola. He was a wonderful husband and great father and loved his family very much, especially his special daughter-in-law who he loved like a daughter. Other than his parents, James is preceded in death by his daughter, Terry Lynn Jenkins and his sister, Dorothy Griffin.
Surviving is his wife, Hilda D. Jenkins of the home; son, Shelton M. Jenkins and wife, Tammy; brother, Wayne Jenkins and wife, Sylvia; two sisters, Charlotte Rodwell and husband, J.B. and Ann Allsbrook and husband, Chester “Buzzy”, all of Roanoke Rapids. Also surviving is a very special friend of the family, Deanna Sigmon.
The family will receive friends at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service, who is handling arrangements, Monday, May 21, 2012 from 6-8 pm.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 22, 2012 in Hockaday’s chapel at 2:00 pm. Rev. Sue Owens and Rev. D.A. Leonard will officiate. Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery, Roanoke Rapids.
The family has requested memorial contributions be made to Halifax Regional Medical Center- Respiratory Department, 250 Smith Church Rd., Roanoke Rapids, NC 27870.
