Michael Wayne Finch, 38, passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2026, in Carteret County.  

He was born in Halifax County February 18, 1988, to Judy Lewter Boyd and the late Timothy Job Finch. He is also preceded in death by his grandparents Howerton and Snowdean Finch, his maternal grandfather James Lewter, brother Chris Finch, uncle Howerton Finch, Jr., and aunt Amanda Lewter.

Michael was a carpenter by trade.  He enjoyed being outdoors and especially fishing.  He also loved being around his family and friends.

He is survived by his mother Judy Boyd and step-father Andre, maternal grandmother Berniece Lewter, step-grandmother Deborah Boyd, sisters Eve Pope (Ivey) and Asya Boyd (Kyon), aunts Priscilla Edwards (Dennis), Shirley Finch, and Angie Wright, uncles Donnie Lewter, David Lewter (Kelly), and Gene Finch, niece Natalie Finch and other family and friends too many to list. He has four special children Baylee, Bryan, and Lauryn Carroll and Norma Lassiter and special friends Nicole, Ty, Margaret, O’Bryan.

A celebration of life is pending and arrangements are being made.
