Michael Eugene Johnston, 68, of Roanoke Rapids passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2025 in ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville, NC.  

Mr. Johnston was born on April 12, 1957, the son of the late Nellie Reese and James Russell Johnston.  

He was preceded in death by his wife Patti, his daughter Amanda Kisielnieki, his sisters Mary Wynn, Ella Lassiter, and Judy Johnston, his brothers John E. Johnston, Joe C. Johnston, Freddie Johnston, Willie Johnston, Willie Johnston, George Johnston, Wayne Johnston, Wade Johnston, and Lee Johnston. 

Mr. Johnston was a giving and loving person and even in death his giving and love continues as his donation of corneas will give the gift of sight to others. 

Surviving include his sons Keith Murphy (Danille), Clem Simone, and Joey Simone, his grandchildren:  Kylee, Khloe, Mason, Julianna, Taylor, Krys, Joey, and Elsie; his special nephew Thomas Hoover (Becca), his sisters:  Ann Murphy and Marie Bailey; and his brothers W.G. Johnston, Wesley Johnston, and Eddie Johnston. 

A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, July 31, 2025 at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service with Rev. Jason Yeatts officiating.  

The family will receive friends following the service.
