Anderson Moody Davis, 84, of Seaboard, N.C., passed away peacefully at his home on December 1, 2018.  

Anderson is survived by his wife of 65 years, Betty Gray Dickens Davis, and his three sons, Joey (Debbie) Davis, Michael (Caroline) Davis, and John (C. Strauss) Davis, his sister Linda (Victor) Garner, two grandchildren, Chelsea (Thomas) Jernigan and Cameron (Taylor) Davis, two very special great-grandchildren, Silas and Anderson, many brothers- and sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.

Anderson is preceded in death by his parents, Mason C. Davis and Florene Moody Davis, his brother Raymond M. Davis, and his sister, June D. Padgett.

Anderson grew up in Seaboard and after graduating high school from Seaboard High School in 1952, he served two years in the U.S. Army, stationed in Louisiana and Missouri.  

Upon completing his military service, he returned home to Seaboard to begin his lifelong occupation of farming, first with his father and, later, with his father-in-law.  

His farming business continues today through his sons, Joey and Michael, and his grandson Cameron.  

He founded Anderson M. Davis Trucking, Inc.  

He was among the founding members of Northeast Academy.

He served on the Board of Directors of N.C. Farm Bureau.  

Anderson was a member of Elam Baptist Church, where he married Betty Gray on January 1, 1953, and where he served on the Board of Deacons.  

Anderson loved working and spending time on the family farm, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Anderson loved Seaboard and never liked to stray far from home.  He will be remembered by many as a kind and generous member of the local farming and church community.  

Visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. on Monday, December 3, 2018, at Elam Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, in Garysburg, N.C.  

A funeral service will be held at Elam Baptist Church on Tuesday, December 4, 2018, at 11 A.M. Following the church service, Anderson will be interred at his favorite place, the family farm.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Anderson’s memory to Elam Baptist Church, 146 Gumberry Street, Garysburg, N.C. 27831, Northeast Academy, 210 Church Street, Lasker, N.C. 27845; or care of PO Box 103, Seaboard, NC 27876.
